Key finidings for the period from June 16 until July 18, 2021:
• 13% of the population have received full vaccination (272,129 citizens).
• 22% of the population received the first dose of the vaccine (453,773 citizens).
• In the past four weeks, the number of fully vaccinated citizens increased by 4%.
• 41% of the population over 50 years of age have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
• The decision of the health authorities to start vaccination of children aged 12 to 17 years is the most important news during this period.
• The expert community continues to be divided in terms of their positions on the vaccination of children.
• The decision was not preceded by adequate preparations and campaign to inform the parents and the children.
• The vaccination of children will start on July 19, exclusively with Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, and only with a prior scheduled appointment.
• Approximately 1,800 children applied for vaccination by July 17.
• On July 12 the health authorities started the vaccination without mandatory prior appointment, as well as the process of field immunisation.
• There is still no official information on the number of citizens that have received vaccines abroad. • By the end of June 2021, MALMED received 155 reports of side effects of the vaccines.
• There is no access to official comprehensive, detailed and searchable data, statistics (cross-data analysis, etc.) on the vaccination rollout in the country.
• We recommend that the authorities should improve the quality, scope and access to data, statistics and other information on the vaccine rollout in the country.
• We recommend a more efficient and effective process of creation and implementation of campaign to stimulate and encourage the citizens to take the vaccine.
