Civic Monitoring of the Office of the Ombudsman: Between its Mandate and its Capacities

The gap between the legal and factual situation of the Office of the Ombudsman indicates that past government was only formally interested in advancement of its position and status and in implementing the recommendations of the international community. The situation needs to be overcome sooner rather than later, that is, a real political will should emerge to allow the Ombudsman to develop its capacities in an unimpeded, independent and expert manner, which would increase its ability to successfully and efficiently promote and protect the human rights of all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia
