The Center for Youth Initiatives Cik-Cak from Kriva Palanka, in cooperation with the NGO Info-center, on December 23, 2020, on the ZOOM platform organized the online discussion “Youth and education in times of coronavirus”.

At the debate, representatives of several local institutions, the municipality, schools, the Parents’ Council, as well as young people and activists discussed the challenges faced by all participants in the educational process, but with a special focus on children and youth, i.e. students from Kriva Palanka. The participants exchanged experiences on the pros and cons of the educational process so far, as well as suggestions for improving teaching in a pandemic.

Mayor Borjanco Micevski pointed out that the municipality is making efforts to deal more effectively with the challenges of the distance learning imposed by the pandemic.

- It is registered that 31 students can not be included in the online classes. We are making efforts to provide internet connection as well as IT equipment for these students and we already have some results. In the meantime, we support education through scholarships, providing educational assistants for people with disabilities and other forms, – said Micevski.

The representatives of the schools pointed out that special teaching lessons are being prepared for all children who cannot attend online classes, and tutors are provided to help the students and their parents.

This event was organized within the project “Active citizens and participatory democracy on local level”, supported by International Center Olof Palme from Sweden.
