In February 2020, the European Commission announced a new methodology for EU accession. With the new methodology, the progress of the candidate countries in the implementation of reforms will be more strictly assessed, but if they respect and meet the criteria, they could have better continuous growth and development.

The methodology is based on four basic principles: (1) Greater credibility, (2) Stronger political governance, (3) Increased dynamics of the negotiation process, and (4) Predictability through reward or punishment.

Supported by the project “MK&EU – LEARN, SHARE, JOIN!”, Implemented by the NGO Infocenter and the Center for European Strategies – Eurothink, as part of the CIVICA MOBILITAS program, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), implemented NIRAS from Denmark, Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) and FCG Swedish Development AB (FCG Sweden).
